Raynelle and Jasmine are two expert nurses on our team here at Texas Radiotherapy. They oversee monitoring our patients throughout their treatment, checking for any abnormal symptoms they may have, and being an overall advocate for our patients.

Will you tell us more about your tasks at Texas Radiotherapy?
Raynelle
We’re one of the first team members the patients consult with. We get to know them and help schedule their treatment plan. For example, with prostate cancer, sometimes we need to perform brachytherapy or go straight to radiation and sometimes we need to do both. Whatever the case may be, we’ll talk through the process with them.
Jasmine
I agree with what Raynelle said. In addition, some patients see Tila first, our front desk manager and patient ambassador, and then they move to the nurses. We have a great team at Texas Radiotherapy, and we all work well together. It makes every day enjoyable, and that energy is beneficial for our patients.
Why did you decide to become a nurse?
Jasmine
I was working around a lot of nurses at a state school and the field started to interest me. I looked into it more, and I felt like I could make a real impact.
Raynelle
I always knew I wanted to be a nurse, but when my mom got sick it really solidified why I wanted to go into nursing. She passed the day after I started school, and I felt even more motivated to complete my nursing degree after that.
Why did you choose Texas Radiotherapy?
Jasmine
I worked with Dr. Cavey before, and they asked me to join the team when they opened Texas Radiotherapy. I originally thought I only wanted to do infusions but now I love working in radiation therapy. I was given a lot of support, and now I’m here for life!
Raynelle
I believe that Texas Radiotherapy picked me! I didn’t even know Dr. Cavey was “the boss,”
when he interviewed me. He was so welcoming and approached the interview more like a friend than a boss. I found out in the interview that Dr. Cavey was the doctor. Everyone was so friendly. I immediately felt like this was the place for me. I felt like I belonged here.
What are your best memories from work?
Raynelle
My best memories are every time I see patients to the end when they ring the bell. They are always so grateful and thankful, it’s amazing to see. We foster an uplifting environment which makes me happy.
Jasmine
One time I received a flower bouquet in the shape of a unicorn and to this day I don’t know who it’s from! The note said, “Thank you for what you did, it really helped.” Even though I don’t know who it was that gave me these, I saved the photo and I look at it often. It reminds me that I am impacting lives every day.
